One of the great joys of writing this newsletter is the conversations and interactions I get to have with all of you. Among my favorite of these interactions is sharing resources. I love a good podcast or newsletter and you all have given some great recommendations. So, periodically I want to highlight some of the resources that have been shared.
The goal here is to share insightful resources, highlight examples of performance psychology in action, and refresh topics of previous newsletters to help make them “stick”.
In this week’s 3 points, I will share a podcast, an article, and a video that I believe you, as leaders and performers will benefit from.
1. A Podcast:
Track and Field coach Stuart McMillan has coached over 70 Olympians at 9 different Olympic games. In this podcast he outlines his coaching philosophy, including practical approaches to helping athletes understand and develop identity, insecurity and perfectionism, and individual zones of optimal functioning.
2. An Article
Dr. Justin Anderson is one of the premier performance psychologist’s in America. He has worked with teams and athletes spanning across NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, NHL, PGA, and MLS. Here he writes the top 5 lessons he has learned over his 20 year career, which include the elusiveness of confidence, pressure, and leadership development for coaches.
3. A Short Video:
Landry Fields, GM of the Atlanta Hawks discusses how he uses the framework of Facilitative Environments to define and diagnose team and organizational culture.
